Over the last few weeks, there's been a lull in the action as we were waiting for the trees to be cut down and then for the excavators to start working. Progress has been delayed because of the rain, so to keep things moving along we continued with demolition in the old part of the house. We removed all the Anderson windows from the side porch, then re-secured them with just a few nails in the exterior flashing (to keep animals out) until John takes the whole thing down.
When we took the siding off to get the windows out, there were zillions of ladybugs underneath, and out front the underlayment was wet and moldy, and even the 2X4 framing around the window was rotted:
We'll be able to use the windows in the hen house, but I didn't want to ask the demo people to take the time to carefully cut them out, so we did the time-consuming part ourselves. We also took out a metal door and the counter top.
In the kitchen we took the Corian counter and the cabinets out to the tractor barn for Keith use in his workshop.
